UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation cuts work permit fees by up to 94%
The UAE government has decided to reduce the fees for 145 services and transactions offered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The ministry has announced on Wednesday that the reductions are between 50 to 94 percent. The new fees will be applicable to the services and 128 transactions the ministry oversees through various centres like Tawjeeh, Tadbeer, Tas’heel and Tawafuq.
In addition, work permits fees across all categories have been halved while the renewal fees for two-year work permits have also been reduced.
According to Khaleej Times, MoHRE wishes to continue exempting companies from paying their Emirati or GCC national employees’ work permits. Work permit fee exemption for fishing boat facilities will continue as well.
This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to boost investments and entrepreneurship, while supporting business owners and investors in the UAE.
The MoHRE decree is also going to halve the work permit fees (from Dh200 to 100) for those who are sponsored by their families for different business categories.
The fee for two-year work permit for different categories of enterprise will come down to Dh300, for both semi-skilled and skilled workers, if sponsored by their parents.
"The reduction in (service and transaction) fees will enhance the flexibility of the labour market and meet the needs of private sector businesses and at the same time enable enterprises to have additional options to meet their operational needs," MoHRE Minister Nasser bin Thani Al Hameli said.
The government is keen on enhancing the productivity of the country's labour market by encouraging private business owners and investors to employ a skilled and competent workforce which is in line with the objectives of National Agenda 2021,” he added.
The ministry has reduced the fee for swapping the permit of a skilled worker from one establishment to another by 50 percent as well. Moreover, the fees for applications of all categories of work permit for teenagers have been reduced by 50 percent too.
Finally, the agency licence fee has also been reduced for a period of one year, while its renewal has been decreased by 50 percent. Currently these fees stand at Dh25,000 for new licence and Dh12,500 for renewal.
