TRA has announced the fifth edition of TRA Innovation Camp to be held on July and August
The fifth edition of ‘TRA Innovation Camp’ is going to be held on 7th July and 8th August, announced the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). A press release in WAM has confirmed the announcement yesterday.
The camp’s goal is to teach the youth the importance of implementation of modern technology and self-development skills, in accordance with the UAE government’s strategy to develop the Information and Communications Technology field.
The Director General in TRA, Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, said, "The Innovation Camp reflects the TRA’s commitment to the leadership’s directives to create an innovation stimulating environment to make the UAE first globally in various fields. The camp contributes to the promotion and dissemination of the ICT innovation culture among the youth, and encourages them to excel and create, as part of the efforts of building and preparing the UAE’s talents and capacities."
"The camp is managed by a group of the top TRA employees who have extensive experience in ICT, Artificial Intelligence, AI, and Internet of Things, IoT. They will introduce the students to the requirements of the next phase and future fields that serve the aspirations of the country in smart cities, information security, space science and AI. The TRA opened the door for university students to volunteer as administrative and training assistants in order to gain practical experience in the management of such activities,” he added.
Like the previous years, the fifth edition of the camp will also target children aged 6 to 17 to make them take part in a variety of programmes in the ICT sector. They will learn introductory and intermediate level techniques in programming, digital innovation, AI and data science, robotics and entrepreneurship. As they will get early exposure to these skill-sets, it will help them to become exceptionally skilled experts in future.
In addition to these skills, the students will also learn the principles of establishing virtual companies by programming and designing electronic platforms. At the end of the camp, the students will take away significant learning outcomes in presentation, product design, research and marketing.
TRA hopes to bring out future entrepreneurs from the participants of the camp.
