Steppi, a corporate health and community engagement platform that encourages users to be more active by allowing them to exchange steps for discounts has raised $720K from undisclosed investors.

The Steppi platform addresses inactivity in the workplace and improves the health and wellbeing of employees which in turn leads to improved productivity and efficiency.  By joining inclusive, incentive backed corporate challenges, employees are rewarded for being active. The Steppi platform provides the employer with a desktop control panel where they can access physical activity data in real-time. Businesses can now measure the ROI on CSR or Corporate Health initiatives through access to tangible data.

The founders’ Joe Franklin and Milos Savic have almost 10 years’ experience between them working for a leading fitness wearable brand in the Middle East. Joe says “We saw wearable adoption increasing and growing demand for corporate health software from Government and privately-owned companies here in the UAE. We set out to create a corporate health platform that adhered to local regulations on data hosting and supported both English and Arabic language.’’

The Steppi platform has been developed to be inclusive for everyone, users can connect to the platform via leading wearable brands including Fitbit, Garmin, and Apple or they can track their activity from any mobile phone using the Google Fit or Apple Health Kit apps.

In addition to working with corporate clients, the Steppi team is also supporting schools and educational facilities through its Steppi Schools Initiative. Head of Wellness for Steppi, Emily Franklin said ‘’The Steppi Schools project is an initiative that the whole Steppi team is incredibly passionate about. Addressing inactivity at a young age encourages users to make healthier decisions for their future. We are running pilot projects with GEMS World Academy and Sunmarke International School and the results have been amazing. Our first challenge with Sunmarke saw an 81% increase in activity from participants throughout the period.’’

Despite launching the Steppi platform during a global pandemic the two founders say they are not fazed by COVID-19, they see it as a unique opportunity for the brand to grow quickly in the region. Milos says "like many businesses we were catapulted into this new world without warning, our purpose has always been to encourage and reward people for being more active.  In a time where businesses have faced unprecedented challenges due to the coronavirus outbreak, this is required now more than ever. Traditionally, corporations have allocated CRS budgets towards physical events that run for a day or two, software platforms like Steppi provide long term benefits with quantifiable ROI that far outweigh these outdated methods.   Steppi acts as the digital foundation that all corporate health programs will be built upon in the future.
