Seedstars opens its first ever hub in Morocco, offers up to $500,000 in funding for promising startups that will participate in the Investment Readiness Program
Seedstars is a renowned global platform for tech startups from growing and emerging markets from different parts of the world. It has officially opened its first ever hub in Morocco, which is also the second one in the entire MENA region. The platform has announced to provide up to $500,000 in investments to every startup they choose via initiatives like the Seedstars World competition and the Investment Readiness Program.
The hub was launched in the open house event that took place on June 18th, in partnership with Kowork. Kowork is a company that brings innovation in coworking and office industry in Africa and helps many businesses to get off grounds to join a large pool of investors, entrepreneurs and key ecosystem stakeholders.
Upon its launch, Seedstars has announced that applications are open for the first batch of the Moroccan version of the Investment Readiness Program. It is scheduled to start on 5th of July, in Seedspace Casablanca. According to Startup MGZN, Seedstars CEO, Alisee de Tonnac, has declared that startups will be given the opportunity to raise up to $500,000 in this program.
Seedspace Casablanca is situated at the fifth floor of the Kowork Massira building at 3 Boulevard Al Massira Al Khadra, the center of Casablanca. The aim is to bring freelancers, entrepreneurs and digital nomads together in a dynamic and vibrant community where they can thrive to create positive impacts in the community with innovation and technology.
“The program challenges the traditional acceleration model by creating a unique mix, designed for startups to enable them to secure funding by working in different areas of their business,” said Aziz Oujdi, General Manager at Seedspace Casablanca.
Aspiring entrepreneurs can submit their applications at irp.seedstars.com.
The Investment Readiness Program will allow participants to relocate to the brand new offices of Seedspace Casablanca, along with other promising tech enterprises. Together they will receive direct guidance and mentorship from fundraising experts, including Charlie Graham-Brown, the CIO at Seedstars. All the entrepreneurs will also receive online training and discounts for online tools and software. Regular demo days will be arranged where the entrepreneurs will get to pitch their business ideas to venture capitalists and international investors.
“Thanks to Seedstars’ experience in fostering entrepreneurial communities in emerging markets, we are enriching our services with a high value added proposal towards all Moroccan startups,” said Kowork’s CEO, Reda LAYT.
Seedstars currently has hubs in over 10 major cities of the world, including: Abidjan, Bogota, Cairo, Cape Town, Dar es Salaam, Geneva, Lagos, Lima, Medellin, Mexico City, Nur-Sultan, and Yangon. Seedspace Casablanca is their global 13th hub.
