The largest competition for startups from emerging and fast-growing markets, Seedstars World, is set to come to Jordan for the sixth time. Seedstars is going to hold its dynamic training sessions on July 6th and 9th, with a pitch event in between on 7th. Local host Umniah will help Seedstars make this event successful like the previous editions.
According to the Startup MGZN, invited companies will attend top notch training sessions and will have the opportunity to pitch at the Seedstars Amman event. To be eligible, the startups need to be less than two years old and must have raised less than $500k in funding. In addition, they are required to have a viable product with existing traction, along with regional and global scalability.
Seedstars is going to shortlist around 10 seed-stage startups in Jordan to pitch at the event on July 7th. Companies that would come on top will have the opportunity to compete at the Seedstars Summit, in Switzerland.
“We are very excited to come back to Amman for the 6th time! The stakes are higher than ever as we’ve been in this ecosystem for more than six years now and know there are companies in Jordan developing high-quality products. We are looking for the best and will take them with us to Switzerland in 2019!”, says Francesca Bombassei, Venture Capital analyst for the MENA region at Seedstars.
Seedstar’s Platinum partner for this event, Umniah is very excited to be a part of such an important event for the startup scene of the country. “We are delighted to host Seedstars competition for the second consecutive year at Umniah’s business incubator, The Tank, which catches opportunities and creates innovative entrepreneurs by supporting their ideas and applying them on the ground to reach global markets,” said Zaid Ibrahim, Director of Marketing at Umniah.
Ibrahim also mentioned that The Tank, a program by Umniah, has achieved fantastic milestones in supporting the innovative ecosystems and startup culture of Jordan.
