Saudi-based health and fitness startup Rumbl raised $1.07M in its latest funding round. The Seed round was led by Investor’s Mine Angel Group with the participation of BIM Ventures.
Founded in October 2020 by Sultan Gornas, Rumbl is a health and fitness App that aims to help people access the best healthy restaurants, gyms and fitness studios, and on-demand personal trainers. Through the platform, users can sign up for gyms, book a session with a personal trainer, and subscribe to a meal plan based on their health and fitness goals.
The Sports & Fitness ecosystem in MENA serves a growing market of health enthusiasts and has been gaining its fair share of VC funding in the region. Even though Sports & Fitness funding rounds in MENA this year were less than the 18 rounds closed in 2020 or the 19 transactions closed in 2019, a $3M SEED round marked a new record fundraise for any Tech-driven fitness startup to date.
The popularity of fitness services among youth and adults has increased over the years in Saudi Arabia. This has led to a rise in the number of health clubs and gyms with personal training and the latest fitness equipment, attracting consumers to health and fitness clubs. Rumbl saw a market opportunity in a consolidated platform that gives the user full access to a healthy lifestyle as Founder & CEO Sultan Gornas elaborates "The fitness market has changed dramatically over the years, and people are looking for simplicity when it comes to accessing fitness centers, personal trainers, and healthy food. Rumbl's innovative model is well-positioned for success.”
The Saudi-based startup aims to establish the brand in the Saudi market, grow the team with dynamic talent, and expand into the MENA region. In light of this recent investment that comes as a market validation and platform booster, Gornas concluded with Rumbl's vision "Our approach focuses on digitizing the subscription journey to fitness centers and healthy restaurants is aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 Quality of Life program, which aims to increase the number of people participating in physical activities and living a healthy lifestyle."
