Pakistan-based doctor booking and teleconsultation platform oladoc has successfully raised $1.8M in its latest funding round. The Pre-Series A round was led by Sarmayacar Ventures along with participation from Doha Tech Angels and other angel investors. The round was closed in 2021, however, the official confirmation has been made today.
Founded in 2016 by Abid & Arif Zuberi, oladoc is Pakistan’s leading doctor booking platform with a network of 8,000 doctors spread across 10 cities. The platform puts the power in the hands of patients by giving them the ability to search, book, rate, and review healthcare providers. In addition, the platform also provides its users the ability to order lab tests as well as save their medical history in the application.
With pressures from the global pandemic, HealthTech spaces across EVMs honed geared up along with a surge in funding and investor interest. In Pakistan, following a funding surge that crossed the $5M mark in 2020, Pakistan-based HealthTech startups observed a 21% YoY growth in funding despite a 2-deal drop in 2021. Over the past year, sizable investments have been backing Pakistan-based HealthTech pioneers working on setting up digital healthcare infrastructures, providing online teleconsultations, and creating online marketplaces. Of these investments were sizable rounds closed in 2021 by HealthTech startups HealthWire, Ailaaj, Marham, Dawaai, and Sehat Kahani.
