Keen to build human capabilities through its CSR programs
Kuwait Financial Centre ‘Markaz’ collaborated with CODED, the first Coding Academy in the Middle East, to provide customized training workshop to Markaz‘Graduate Development Program’. The Coded workshop designed for Markaz was a 3-day program targeting beginners and covering introductory concepts for financial technology (Fintech), fundamentals of founding tech startups and basic mechanics and theory of venture capital. The training also focused on educating participants on software development and programming to prepare them for a demanding job market.
Manaf A. Alhajeri, Markaz CEO, stated, “Markaz believes in the importance of preparing the youth for a demanding job market to achieve sustainable development for the national economy. Therefore, Markaz collaborated with Coded, which provides world-class curriculum designed by industry experts and delivered by a team of highly qualified instructors, in order to enhance the skills of the participants of Markaz ‘Graduate Development Program’ launched in 2017 to build the skills of fresh graduates and provide them with new opportunities.”
He added, “Our collaboration with CODED affirms Markaz constant endeavor to develop the youths’ skills as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, which is founded on three pillars, namely a) Building human capacity b) Aligning our business environment with the principles of sustainable development c) Promoting good governance in the business environment.”
By the end of the Workshop, the participants had an understanding of the Fintech industry and the current market trends within it, the applications and uses of financial technology, scaling Fintech and dealing with regulations and Fintech within traditional companies. They also had a practical feel for the journey of founding a tech startup from forming ideas and teams to product development and business development. In addition, the participants had a grasp on the theoretical and mechanical aspects of venture capital and startup funding.
