The Cairo-based Tech-driven transportation platform Schoolz has successfully raised an undisclosed six-figure amount in a Pre-Seed round led by Saudi and Egypt-based investors.

Founded in 2020 by Hosni Ahmed, Schoolz provides a safe and comfortable transportation service for children using modern technologies, qualified drivers, supervisors in every vehicle, live cameras to allow parents to check on their children at any moment, and follow-up notifications to ensure safe arrivals. Based on our flagship Egypt H1 2021 Venture Investment Report, Egypt's venture space observed growth in funding and was one of the only geographies to also observe a growth in deal flow in the first half of the year. VC funding backing Egypt-based startups grew by 64% YoY and the volume of deals grew by 6% in H1 2021, marking a stable and healthy recovery for the ecosystem. Schoolz is yet another Early-Stage startup ensuring a future progression for the startup scene in Egypt

Schoolz is on the path to disrupting the transportation industry starting with school transportation. A service that has been traditionally run by the same bus providers or school districts, with flaws and gaps the Cairo-based startup aims to finesse. In light of this recent Pre-Seed investment, Hosni Ahmed highlighted “We know that there is a great opportunity for the students and children transportation services market, inside and outside Egypt. We started it experimentally at the peak of the Corona pandemic to test the minimum market acceptance of our services, and the results were impressive! In the first week of the launch, we transported the first group of students to their schools, then we transported children to the club during the weekend. Quickly, schools, sports academies, and clubs communicated to us to use our services. We immediately provided technology, tools, and transportation technology for them, whether using our fleet or by using Schoolz system to manage the transportation process smoothly and completely.”

The Cario-based transportation startup plans to utilize its newly acquired funds to expand its offering beyond servicing students by introducing Schoolz for business, which aims to transport employees to their place of work, and Schoolz cloud services to provide SaaS solutions to companies in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Hosni concluded “Schoolz also aims to use those investments to pump funds in business growth of students’ transportation to schools besides launching Schoolz for Business, and this service aims to transport employees to their work within Cairo and Giza governorates. Also launching Schoolz (SAAS) (providing Software As A Service), which will allow schools and companies to use our technology infrastructure tools without our fleet.”
