Uber and ArabiaWeather will provide people with a reliable weather forecast and a ride when they need it the most, like during severe weather conditions, in Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Jordanian weather forecasting and reporting startup ArabiaWeather has entered into a partnership with ride-hailing firm Uber to offer “safe, reliable, and affordable rides” to its customers in the Middle East.

According to a statement, with the deal, the two tech companies will “provide people with a reliable weather forecast and an Uber ride when they need it the most,” especially during severe weather conditions.

ArabiaWeather, which was founded in 2009, claims to reach over 70 million users through its media products, enterprise solutions, and consumer platforms.

Dubai-based Jabbar Internet Group is one of the firm’s most prominent investors, along with Wamda Capital and DASH Ventures.

Last year, venture capital firm Silicon Badia led a $5 million series A round for ArabiaWeather. The firm had also raised $2.1 million at the end of 2014.

Operationally, this would see visitors to  ArabiaWeather’s platforms in Jordan and Saudi Arabia to easily sign-up for an Uber account when checking local weather conditions in their specifics areas.

Early users who sign-up through ArabiaWeather platforms, would also get 50% of their first two rides thanks to promo codes announced by the firm for this specific partnership.

Mohammed Al Shaker, ArabiaWeather founder and CEO, said that there is a natural synergy between the two services.

“Both of our companies are aiming to provide the public with the tools they need to plan, prepare and conduct their lives seamlessly.”

As part of the partnership, Uber will be part of the weather company’s communication channels and will be utilizing ArabiaWeather’s unique technology, and hyper local and weather-targeting features.

In MENA, Uber is currently in Dubai, Cairo, Amman, and Riyadh among other major cities.
