Online tutoring platform Al Gooru has announced the acquisition of ChillLearn to expand its operations across the region. Inspired by the ever-evolving tech-world, AlGooru and ChillLearn have crossed paths to innovatively create solutions where they are required most, in the field of complementary education.
Founded in 2019 by Khalid Abou Kassem, AlGooru has had its fair share of success stories, with the most recent being its acceptance into the seed accelerator, Techstars Riyadh, and closing the Pre-Seed investment round with $600,000. As it has always been, AlGooru continues to spearhead the field of Ed-Tech to provide the absolute best for its users in Saudi Arabia and the GCC. AlGooru’s mission is to easily match-make students and tutors, creating a community of dedicated professionals and enthusiastic learners to benefit from shared experiences.
With the pandemic raising the stakes on alternative and cloud-based education, the EdTech sector in MENA observed a 104% YoY growth in capital investment to near the $60M in 2021. While the sector matures, with major exits and acquisitions like that of Lebanese-based EdTech Ostaz by Synkers, or that of Jordan-based Abwaab acquiring Edmatrix, many EdTech ventures have been community-based and hyper-localized. MENA-based EdTech startups closed south of 40 transactions in 2021, where major investments were closed by Jordan-based EdTech platform Abwaab, UAE-based children’s online learning platform Lamsa, an English language-focused online platform Englease.com, professional development platform almentor.net, as well as Jordan-based interactive learning platform Edunation.

Speaking about ChillLearn’s approval to be acquired by AlGooru, Muhanad AlJaser, founder of ChillLearn, explains that AlGooru and ChillLearn have a common mission. Their combined enthusiasm and synergy can yield previously inconceivable solutions to the online student-tutor platforms.
As a result of this acquisition, ChillLearn’s team members, network of tutors, and founder, have become part of AlGooru. With unparalleled dedication and commitment, Khalid promises, “We plan to capitalize on ChillLearn's market insights, access to supply, and know-hows to better cater to the needs of the 10M student market in Saudi. This will anchor our foreseeable expansion in the region, which will align with our mission to build GCC's one-stop private tutoring shop.”
