Aviation XLab - Carbon Negative Aviation Industry
Although the aviation industry is responsible for just 2% of the world’s carbon emissions, the challenge is based on the premise that airlines produces 115gm CO2 per passenger km, which is roughly 859 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. The mission is to reduce the carbon emissions produced from the industry and ultimately reach a carbon-negative production
Potential radical solutions can be:
• Zero emission propulsion technology
• Reversing CO2 – net negative
• Financial innovation to incentivize carbon negative travel
• Innovation in material, construction, re-configuration of the travel experience
Up to 4 individuals or start-ups will be selected to go through a 3-month rapid evaluation stage, and each individual would be entitled to AED 50,000 compensation to cover expenses during that 3 months in Dubai. Selected participants will prepare for a pitch for funding to the Aviation X Lab Executive Board.
